Sinking Pond Pellets
Sturgeon are bottom feeding, coldwater fish which have very specific dietary requirements. They possess large appetites and need food which is high in fish meal protein as opposed to vegetable protein. Sturgeon quickly starve if provided with an inadequate diet. Lying on the bottom of the pond upside down, bending in half and bobbing around the edges of the pond are all signs of starvation.
To complicate matters further Surgeon may require food throughout the winter and will feed at temperatures as low as 4 degrees. They are best fed little and often and are most active at dawn and dusk and so these are the best feeding times. They are relatively slow feeders and so if your pond features several varieties of fish, feed your koi and goldfish first so they don’t consume much of the sturgeon food before your sturgeon have a chance to eat it.
